Dr. A.J. Rush, MD, of Texas Spine Consultants (Dallas TX), delivered an insightful talk on “The Impact of Cage Design on Spinal Alignment.”
He highlighted the common dilemma surgeons face when using one-piece anterior lumbar interbody fusion(ALIF) cages: choosing between foraminal height restoration and spinal realignment. He concluded that with a modular ALIF cage, surgeons can achieve both. This innovative design allows for effective foraminal height restoration and precise alignment without sacrificing implant footprint or bone contact.
