Axis Spine Technologies released its Beta instrument upgrades in March 2024, initially to design team members, and, based upon the excellent early feedback, has released upgrades to all sets.
Upgrades consist of several refined instruments, a new screw with improved fixation in both soft and hard bone. The most significant part of the upgrades was the Dual Hinge Inserter. Described by Dr. Richard Guyer (Plano TX) as a ‘Game-Changer’, the inserter not only allows for a smooth work-flow when placing the endplates and delivering the ‘wedge within a wedge’. The Dual Hinge Inserter creates a safe working channel. Each step involved in trialling and delivery of the implant takes place within this safe channel. The aim, to reduce the risks of vessel and soft tissue injuries that can occur when passing an instrument in and out of the wound.
“When your inserter receives compliments from the vascular surgeon performing the access as well as the spine surgeon, you know you are making meaningful improvements”, stated Gant Newsom, Vice President of Market Development at Axis.
